Marte Mei van Haaster

Amsterdam

Designer and artist

Marte Mei is a designer and artist working at the intersection of art, design, and landscape-based material research. Her practice centres on forming alliances with nature, exploring how designers can collaborate with natural entities, materials, and landscapes in developing new work.

Through the use of materials derived from regenerative land care and ecological restoration, her landscape interventions act as catalysts for innovative material experiments. Recent projects include a ceramic glaze crafted from phytoremediation plant ash, developed alongside Amsterdam’s De Ceuvel, and new applications utilizing PFAS-remediating hemp.

Her upcoming solo exhibition opens at St. Vincent’s in Antwerp on May 14 and will be on view through late June.
