Calling all creators! Adidas MakerLab x UBN Workshops is here!

Last year’s public darling, the adidas MakerLab x UBN Workshops, was a huge succes! Tucked in our night-market, this place was all about experimenting, creating & sharing. This year it’s going to be even better… Read on below!

Each night will focus on a specific brief hosted by one of the brand’s Graphic Design Directors. A workshop takes 2 hours and is limited to 10 people. Participants of the workshops are guaranteed a meeting with an adidas Talent Acquisition team member so they get to know you better not just your great work. The outcome of the workshops will be exhibited at adidas HQ in Herzo.

The criteria of selection is simple, show us your work and a team of adidas and UBN will pick the participants. All selected designers will be announced on our social channels as participants of the adidas MakerLab x UBN workshops.

Berto Herrera

I’m Berto Herrera, I studied fine art/art history at Parsons and hold a degree in Electrical Engineering which I used in the USAF (United States Air Force) for top secret jobs. I started my creative career as a exhibiting artist in LA shaping downtown with BOXeight in the early 2000’s while working for skate brands (I was one of the graphic designers behind Primitive Apparel), streetwear brands, and tour merch. I moved to Portland on a whim where I worked freelance for different brands and agencies – I eventually started to work with adidas on a freelance basis and went corporate.

A lot of my practices are from being a exhibiting studio artist – with one of my main focal points of challenging systems of power and establishments to engage in new ways of thinking and approaching a problem.

Andre Hilario

Design Director @ adidas (Lisbon / Nuremberg)

I’m a graphic designer born and raised in Lisbon that joined Adidas brand in 2012 by chance and since then I stayed. It’s been a great journey and since I arrived discover how graphics can leave out of paper and screens. I joined adidas as freelancer in Brand design to shape the graphic language for FIFA World Cup 2012. After living in between Lisbon and Nuremberg I joined definitely the company. In 2015 where I’m working with my team as Design Director. With my scope on identity had the chance to work across the brand and taking part on multiple projects and scopes for football, running and others. As always I tried to learn as much as possible and product application started to be my quest. Graphic languages, typography, photography, forms, colors, materials all matter, but the why motivates me to push my own boundaries. After that curiosity and keeping calm. Creativity always came.
